Louis Azaria Mbuguni

Louis Azaria Mbuguni was born in 1941. He trained at the Makerere art school (1963–1967) and went on to study at the University of Dar es Salaam (1970–1974) and at Indiana University in the United States. In 1967–1968 he worked at the Ministry of Community Development and National Culture, promoting crafts and the arts, and in 1969–1970 he took part in a UNESCO project in Mwanza as a book production specialist. From 1970 into the 1990s he taught at the University of Dar es Salaam, while working as a graphic artist specialising in book illustration.
