Hamdia Traoré

Hamdia Traoré (b. 1992) is a documentary photographer who lives and works in Bamako, Mali. His work has been exhibited in Mali and abroad. As a freelance photographer he has worked with the embassies and consulates of several countries and with international non-governmental organisations. In 2015 he won a Humanity Photo Award in the Architecture category, presented by the China Folklore Photographic Association. His photographs reflect his deep engagement with the culture, history and distinctive character of Djenné, a city that even in times of political and social upheaval keeps a powerful living tradition within the earthen walls of one of the great monuments of West African architecture.
